The Coalition for Innovative Media Measurement (CIMM) recently decided that there was far too much confusion over the definition of what a set-top box was.
As the lexicon is important in expanding the adoption of set-top boxes, they have come up with what they think should be the accepted industry standard.
Rather than set-top box, CIMM recommends the following.
Analog set-top box.
Or, digital set-top box.
Perhaps CIMM should consider removing the “I” from their acronym.
