Advertising Briefs And The Wikileak Documents

According to our government, something in the vicinity of 92,000 secret documents were recently published online.

The Obama administration quickly pointed out that none of the 92,000 secret documents, not a single one, posed a significant security threat to either the country or the troops.

Which makes me wonder why they were secret.

Andrew Exum said in the New York Times, “I have seen nothing in the documents that has either surprised me or told me anything of significance.”

Which makes me wonder why we needed 92,000 of them.

It also makes me think of advertising briefs. Mr Exum sounds like many creative people after reading a creative brief. “I have seen nothing in the document that has either surprised me or told me anything of significance."

And we wonder why most advertising is as bad as it is.
